Therapists
I am an integrative therapist entering his 50th year on this Earth and have lived in London for much of my life. I am of mixed heritage and have enjoyed travelling and experiencing different cultures. Listening to others and trying to understand their worlds is something that I have always inclined towards. I appreciate and understand the potential trepidation and sense of vulnerability that can come with seeking therapy. I am here to listen to you and accept you warmly for the person you are. Together we will work collaboratively on whatever you wish to bring to therapy.
Life is dynamic and as such we must at various stages of our lives adapt in order to grow and cope with the spectrum of experiences that we will encounter. If we do not adapt we can become stuck and start to experience uneasiness, anxiety and depression. The many difficulties (and potential traumas) of childhood can play major roles in our adult life, often without us being consciously aware of their influence. Unexamined habits and outdated thought patterns can play havoc with our day-to-day lives and can really affect our relationships with ourselves and others. These difficulties and traumas can manifest as blockages to our potential. My aim is to assist you in locating these blocks, to understand them and to work through them to help unlock the positive potential within you. Your past, present, future and life's uncertainties become more manageable as you develop increased self-knowledge and explore and apply the specific techniques that work for you. I also have a special interest in existential therapy which is closely linked to philosophical concerns such as death, freedom, isolation and meaninglessness. These concerns tend to occur during intense moments of our lives such as bereavements, becoming a parent, losing a job or a partner, retirement, middle age and early adulthood. These can be important transformational periods for us. My aim is to assist you in recognising and navigating these moments and opportunities in life.
I have qualified from Lambeth College with a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. I am a registered member with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and my qualification is granted by the CPCAB (Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body). I have collaborated with NHS Wandsworth's Talking Therapies via The Awareness Centre and have also contributed for Third Age Counselling. The modalities I have trained within are person-centred, psychodynamic and existential. I have experience in both long and short-term therapy. I am always fascinated in how to integrate the body and mind harmoniously. Having suffered stomach issues in my life, I have paid particular attention in how to manage stress through mental attitudes and a healthy diet. To that end, I have a Level 3 Diploma as a Nutrition Consultant from the Open Study College. I have also practiced Mindfulness at the Mindfulness Project and continue to apply its therapeutic techniques for my own wellbeing.
