Therapists
I have experience of working with mental health and challenging behaviour for over 20 years, and my passion is working with and supporting people who have struggled with difficult emotions and life experiences so that we can think about them together and better understand them.
As a trained Psychodynamic Therapist I believe that thoughts and feelings by their nature, are often overwhelming and can seem impossible to manage at times. When we know why we think or feel a certain way it is easier to endure, but very often it is our past experiences, early childhood, even inherited family trauma that we have buried (or is buried inside us) that obscure our understanding and can leave us feeling lost, confused or in pain. Indeed the very experience of being human requires the endless navigation of powerful emotions within us; love, anger, envy, loss. Feelings which society and culture might have us believe are easily negotiated, but which perhaps is rarely the case. Through short and longer term therapy I offer the space and time to explore both the known and unknown parts of oneself, with a view to moving towards a better understanding and acceptance of your place in the world, and the reasons that might have brought you to seek counselling today.
I have a BA(hons) in Psychology, Philosophy and English. As well as a further Diploma in Psychology.
