Therapists
I'm Jhonathan, a UKCP-registered Family & Systemic Psychotherapist with 40 years of experience in social care and social work. Throughout my career, I've witnessed the profound impact that societal contexts and relationship struggles can have on individuals, couples, and families of all backgrounds and orientations, alongside the difference that therapy can make. In working with me I trust you will encounter a kind, experienced, creative, and non judgemental therapist with whom you can feel safe to explore and address the issues you are facing.
As a systemic therapist, I believe in the power of relationships to foster positive change. We'll create a safe and collaborative space to explore your unique experiences and challenges. Whether you're an individual, couple, or family, we'll work together to understand underlying patterns, enhance communication, and develop healthier ways of relating. I am acquiring a level of specialism in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, helping you build stronger, more secure emotional bonds. I also offer support around parenting, cultural issues, and family dynamics, addressing both past traumas and present challenges. If you think I could help and would like to book a preliminary consultation to explore further, I'd be delighted to hear from you. I'm available weekday evenings and Saturdays for online or in-person sessions Also you can find out more about me on the UKCP Website: https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/therapist/Jhonathan-Turner-1RXsJAAW
My extensive background in social care and social work, alongside significant life experiences, has shaped my compassionate and insightful approach. I've dedicated my career to helping and empowering vulnerable children and families, integrating systemic approaches into my practice. This culminated in four years of retraining to achieve an MSc in Family Therapy from King's College London in 2021, and registration with the Association of Family Therapy (AFT). Committed to inclusive practice, I actively engage in supervision, contribute to training, and recently published my MSc research project, using an Appreciative Inquiry approach which I integrate into my practice. I'm also a member of ICEEFT, the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, undertaking further skills-based training and development in this approach. In addition to practicing in a local authority’s integrated clinical service supporting children and families, I have a small practice offering private on-line or in person sessions weekday evenings and all day Saturdays.
