Therapists

My name is Paula Watson (UKCP, MBACP), and I am a psychotherapist based in West London (Chiswick). I offer in-person therapy for adults, creating a safe space where you can explore your concerns with confidence. I specialise in supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, family issues and relationship difficulties including work-related stress. I have a particular interest in helping people move from 'coping' and towards a process of self-discovery and spiritual growth. In our sessions, I provide a compassionate, non-judgemental environment where you can feel heard and understood. Together, we will work towards deepening your understanding and communication with self and others. My approach is tailored to your unique strengths, allowing for growth at your own pace. If it aligns with your needs, we can incorporate a goal-directed approach. If you’re ready to explore new possibilities and make meaningful changes, I invite you to take the first step

Counselling is a supportive relationship where I use skills such as reflective listening to help you work through difficulties and dilemmas. In Psychotherapy, I integrate my knowledge of therapeutic processes to support more profound transformation and deeper healing. My work blends Transactional Analysis (analytical), Gestalt (creative) and Person-centred (supportive) including Gendlin's Focusing skills which can enhance therapeutic progress. I help you to articulate your therapy goals and then to keep you on track. I aim to work in the way that best suits you, gently challenging or supporting you based on my clinical experience and your preferences. I sometimes use grounding exercises to support your optimal functioning within the session or experimental techniques such as 'chair work' to help you gain deeper insight into your more hidden thoughts and feelings. I can also use techniques such as 'Focusing,' developed by Eugene Gendlin, to help you access inner wisdom by attending to your subtle bodily sensations. These practices enhance self-awareness and help you make positive life changes. Expectations + Outcomes: Whatever your reasons for seeking therapy, over time the process should reduce any distress you are feeling; improve your communication skills and enhance your self-awareness and self-compassion.

I trained at The Metanoia Institute, Middlesex University, where I gained an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy. I am an accredited member of the BACP and the UKCP, and comply with the ethical codes of these institutions, alongside the requirement for ongoing supervision and professional development. I am also on the training pathway as a Mindfulness-based Teacher and a Trustee of the Mindfulness Network Charity.
