Therapists

I am a qualified psychotherapist with experience in private practice, specialist charities and in the NHS. I believe therapy should be a collaborative experience and I regularly check in to ensure the therapy is working for you. I have experience working with a diverse presentation of difficulties and whatever is troubling you, I can offer a safe and reflective space for you to explore your difficulties and experiences. I want to work with you to help you meet your therapeutic goals and move towards being the person you want to be. Starting therapy can be intimidating so contact me to set up a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs and any questions you have. We will be able to discuss what you would like help with and what you would like to get out of therapy. Please also check out my website where I offer a guide about therapy.

I work in an integrative practice, which means drawing on different therapeutic approaches to tailor the therapy to meet your needs and goals. The most important aspect of a therapy session is that it feels like a safe and non-judgemental space for you to explore your past, present, and future. The therapy starts with an assessment session where I ask you about different aspects of your life and you identify your goals and hopes for the therapy. After the first session, we will proceed in a way that we agree based on your goals. It is most important that we work at a pace that is comfortable for you. Sessions can be more talk based or could involve some activities. In the therapy room, I am often transparent about reasons I may bring an idea or an activity and explain how I think it may be helpful, while you always have the choice about how we proceed. I will often discuss with you about what you find helpful in therapy as everyone is different. Some clients want to be challenged in sessions but for others that would be very unhelpful. We can work together to create a therapeutic space that works for you and feels safe.

I have experience with a variety of different issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, adverse life events, PTSD. I am experienced in trauma informed therapy and worked with experiences of domestic, sexual, childhood and honour based abuse. I draw on multiple theories including schema therapy, CBT, attachment and person-centred therapy. I have experience working in the NHS, charities, private organisations and my own private practice. I am also currently finalising a doctorate in Counselling Psychologist.
