Therapists
Hi my name's David and I’m a qualified integrative counsellor. I am down to earth, warm, friendly and welcoming and I hope that from our very first conversation you will experience this human to human dynamic. Being an 'integrative counsellor' just means that I work with different forms of therapeutic theory in my work with clients. I’m trained in person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural theory, all of these approaches inform how I help clients clarify what is happening for them. We might explore things that are very present or think about the past and how it might be impacting you today, or both. Whether it’s relationships, family dynamics, work, children, bereavement, anxiety, overwhelm or a deep sadness - If you feel caught up in the madness and fragility of life and need someone to help you make sense of it all, then I would love to work with you.
Sometimes life brings us to a place where we need a warm, non-judgemental and caring space to be listened to and to process. One where you are listened to and help is provided to make sense of whatever might be going on that has led you to seeking a counsellor today. It’s a brave step and life changing process, and a journey that I would be truly privileged and honoured to work with you towards. The most important thing I value is creating a space, where a therapeutic relationship is formed, and your most authentic self is prioritised and listened to; a space where you can grow in confidence and understand how you might take your next steps in life with whatever you are going through. I would love to offer a free consultation to see if we could work well together. Sessions are weekly for 50 minutes.
I have always been passionate about being understanding, empathic and non-judgemental towards others. This, it turns out, is the foundation to what it means to be a therapist. Having spent many years in pastoral and creative roles in different spaces, my therapeutic training was the amalgamation of my core-beliefs and passions for working with and helping people. Having had therapy myself over a number of years, I know how brave and yet transformative it can be for you.
