I have over 25 years’ experience working with children and youth people in a variety of settings such as the Arts, Education and Social Care (UK and Brazil) and I am passionate about supporting preteens, teenagers and young people navigate adolescence and adulthood. In schools and colleges, I have worked in pastoral, safeguarding and student leadership roles, where I have supported young people with emerging to severe mental health issues. Working with young people, I am often frustrated and heartbroken regarding the lack of accessible mental health provisions suited to their needs and am often was left ‘holding’ teenagers and young people in crisis. I was encouraged by a Lead Counsellor and CAMHS colleagues, who had seen my work and commitment with young people in crisis and how I supported their recovery, to get into mental health as a profession; which has led me to pursue this field. Alongside Hummingbird Mindsets, I work in social care with children with a Social Worker, children in care and care leavers; including Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and survivors of Human Trafficking.
