I draw on several therapeutic modalities in my work to help individuals think about whatever is troubling them together in a safe space. I help clients gain deeper understanding of themselves and find a way through trauma, pain, depression, relationship breakdown, bereavement, and loss. I have a special interest in transgenerational trauma and women’s health and have been working with women across the life cycle, e.g. motherhood, infertility and pregnancy loss. I am also interested in immigration and identity, and in working with individuals with difficulties to form and maintain intimate relationships and issues in separation. I trained as a counselling psychologist at Regent’s University London My core training was in Existential -Phenomenological psychotherapy combined with psychodynamic perspective. Nowadays I integrate these two approaches drawing on developmental theories grounded in attachment theories and psychodynamic understandings, and an existential -phenomenological perspectives that helps open a richer way of understanding what does it mean for you to live in the world- how do you make sense of life and your difficulties? What are you views on possibilities or limitations for your growth and change, or stuckness and hopelessness. My aim is to broaden and open new understandings and ways of approaching what has become difficult for you in the hope that this would assist you finding a way through it, with my supportive presence. I work relationally with you , that is I listen carefully to what you say both verbally and non-verbally and pay attention to the dynamic, the relationship that develops between us to be attuned to where things may have got a bit stuck for you, or difficult and how these may echo past meaningful relationship in your life. By doing that I can find at times new ways in, a new way to respond to you relationally in somewhat different manner than the way that left psychological injury , trauma or inhibited self-development and growth. Later on , with the greater demand for limited time therapies especially in the NHS, I also completed post graduate diploma in CBT- cognitive behavioural therapies. I may integrate some aspects of it into our work together when this seems helpful, for example when there is also a need to learn new skills that can help you manage some difficulties such as phobias, social anxiety, depression , PTSD and other anxiety disorders. I moved to the UK in my late 20’s and had found the process of immigration both enriching and challenging at times. I am attentive to support people in the process of creating something new as they move to a new territory, as they go through a painful process of loss and letting go of what they had left behind and making space for something new to be built. It is often the integration of these that enables individuals a way of feeling at home both within themselves and within their new environment. When I became a mother later in life, I became interested in the journey people make into parenthood with its challenges, hopes, dreams and stressors and supported mothers to be and fathers in this journey. I also supported mothers who experienced pregnancy losses, infertility and loss of a baby , in their painful journeys going through depth of despair and pain until at times new hopes or ways of getting through these difficulties were discovered.
