Hello, I’m Alicia, a qualified Integrative Counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy. As a therapist, I believe in bringing my full authentic self into the work I do with clients. I don't subscribe to the idea of 'blank face' therapy. Our therapeutic relationship is at the heart of our work together, and I strive to create an environment where you feel seen, heard and understood. I have worked in the NHS and have experience working in short-term and long-term therapeutic relationships. I have extensive experience working with individuals struggling with a wide range of difficulties including low self-esteem, low mood, anxiety and trauma. I regularly work with clients presenting pregnancy and motherhood issues, and my practice includes supporting new parents adjusting to these new chapters in their lives.
I take a humanistic approach, using a range of techniques to suit your hopes and needs, including the Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis and Solution-Focused methods. My style is calm and warm and you will feel supported and at ease. My main aims are to ensure you feel listened to, work towards a more accepting and anxiety-free future and build a trustworthy therapeutic relationship.
I trained integratively, where I have experience working with different theories and types of therapy. Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked in the events industry for over nine years. During this time, I developed a clear understanding of the impact stress and anxiety can have on the body and mind and an awareness of the life-changing benefits of therapy.
