I completed my Master's degree in counselling at the University of Greenwich. I am a BACP-accredited therapist, which means that after at least three years of practice, I demonstrated high standards of knowledge, experience and development and passed a rigorous assessment process that can take up to six months to complete. I worked as a therapist in the NHS setting, helping clients with a variety of issues such as depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, stress, work-related issues, childhood neglect and abuse, attachment and relationship issues, domestic violence, miscarriage, and suicidal thoughts. I completed my postgraduate specialisation in the person-centred treatment of depression as well as in Emotionally Focused Therapy Level 1. I am passionate about working creatively with clients and developing my skills and knowledge in Jungian and Integrative Sand therapy. This modality is like an x-ray of the psyche that allows access into the unconscious in a safe and contained way and helps to find novel solutions to old problems in a playful way.

My approach to therapy is humanistic, non-pathologising and growth-oriented and focused on activating your self-healing and self-actualising capacity. I have the tools to enable you to help yourself and will walk alongside you towards hope and meaning.  There are three paths we can take on our journey: regressive, existential and transpersonal. Regressive therapy is about healing past hurts and relationships. I believe it is true that "until we resolve source relationships (family of origin), we are never really present in another relationship" (John Rowan). The tools and approaches I might use are the Rewind technique, Person-Centred, Emotion-focused, and Attachment-based. My work is also trauma-informed and involves grounding and stabilisation techniques. Jungian or Integrative Sandplay therapy is a powerful tool that is available to work with trauma or to explore how your unconscious is affecting your present life situation. Mindfulness, focusing on your feelings and working through them, and Gestalt approaches can help you to come in full contact with yourself. To explore your direction in life or get in touch with your higher potential, creativity and intuition, we might use mindfulness, active imagination and symbols through Sand therapy.

My background is in nursing and midwifery with 30 years of experience working with vulnerable people in the UK and abroad. I am approachable, warm, accepting and compassionate. I have always had a keen interest in human resilience, the will to meaning and personal and spiritual development. This interest was fuelled by the early loss of my family and bereavement in childhood. Alongside my therapeutic practice, I continue working as a senior midwife as well as an Oncology Psychotherapist.
