Therapists
I am an integrative talking therapist who can help you understand yourself, make sense of your present circumstances and become aware of how your past is impacting on your present. I will provide a dynamic but warm, empathetic and accepting therapeutic space in which I can support you to find ways of understanding yourself and achieving change. As a person of faith I am particularly sensitive to people looking for a faith-affirming approach to their counselling. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, anger and relational difficulties with a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approach.
Your therapy trajectory and therapeutic interventions will then be tailored to you individually to meet your individual needs but we will broadly be working to help you have conscious choice over how to respond to both yourself and others instead of reacting in repeated patterns without understanding why e.g. acquiring a greater level of autonomy in your life. Your therapy will aim to strengthen your autonomy by increasing your: *Spontaneity - your ability to respond to the here-and-now without being influenced by the past *Awareness - your ability to assess and understand yourself and any given situation *Capacity for Intimacy - the ability to form deeper connections with yourself and others without unconscious interference. This enhances your ability to have choice over how to respond to situations and not just react to them. Sessions cost £70 in person (Wimbledon and Clapham) and £65 online.
I have an extensive background in working pastorally with people in various non-profit organisations. I have had integrative training and development in a multitude of counselling theories but majoring in Transactional Analysis, Attachment Theory and Clarkson's Relationships. I have worked with clinical IAPT contracts within the NHS in GP surgeries providing short-term solution-focused therapy in my own modality. Find out more at lesleythompsontherapy.com
