Hello. I’m Anthony Turi, a fully qualified Psychotherapist. I am passionate and deeply interested in the positive benefits of counselling and therapy. I believe therapy offers unique opportunities for a person to get in touch with their strengths, confidence and resilience, and in so doing equip them to deal with any challenges facing them. I have experience of working with a broad range of issues and of supporting my clients to feel more positive about their lives, and so bring about beneficial changes for themselves, and those around them. Your starting point might vary. Perhaps you have been feeling confused, let down, anxious, or stressed. Maybe ‘depression’ is a word that seems to fit. Or maybe you just seek more clarity and support about who you are, what you want, and how you can get there. I can help you bring about these changes. I enjoy my therapy practice a great deal, and value the opportunity to support my clients to gain further clarity, raise awareness, and become more fully in touch with who they are, and want to be. In my experience, the therapy room is where positive changes begin. Feel free to contact me, for an initial consultation session, to see if we might ‘fit’ in terms of how we work together. I like to see myself and my client as a team. I look forward to supporting you. I see my clients in comfortable, spacious studios in convenient locations in Fulham /Putney and in Wimbledon. I am also comfortable offering online therapy by video call as well as telephone appointments. I also offer Supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists, so please get in touch if you would be interested in working with me to be supported in your work as a practitioner.

I practice Gestalt Psychotherapy. Gestalt is a German word meaning the whole and the sum of all the parts. As an approach, Gestalt therapy draws on the belief that people have a natural tendency towards health, but old patterns of behaviour and fixed ideas can create blocks interrupting the natural cycle of wellness, therefore affecting communication with others. Gestalt therapy addresses what is happening in the moment, raising awareness of an individual’s experiences of their responses with others. The belief is that to be fully present in the here and now creates within the client the potential for more excitement, energy, and the courage to live life directly. In my work, the idea that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts means that every part of you is valued. All of your patterns and behaviours are considered in the light of how they were appropriate and helpful creative adjustments to an environment that wasn’t able to support you in a way you needed at that time. I view Gestalt Psychotherapy as a holistic and unifying approach, which can bring about increased self-awareness, improved self-acceptance and better contact with yourself and others, to enable you to feel freer to be yourself and more authentic in your relationships. As well as offering recovery from symptoms of distress such as depression and anxiety, Gestalt therapy is an important means to all round psychological health and personal development.

I am a qualified psychotherapist with a great deal of therapy experience. I was originally Cambridge-educated, and am a fully qualified Psychotherapist, with a Masters in Gestalt Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and the Metanoia Institute in London. I believe in being authentic with clients and seek to share my responses to what I hear. I work with clients on a broad range of issues; from a life-crisis when you need to talk to someone, to people who want to spend time exploring and discovering who they are and want to make lasting changes in areas of life they are stuck in, or clients who want to work on a more short-term issue over a shorter block of sessions. I also have extensive experience of working in education and with children. This informs my approach in working with adults therapeutically, as I seek to enable clients to contact the ‘younger’ parts of themselves, on their way to becoming more fully integrated. I support you to explore what is of interest to you and to increase your understanding and awareness of yourself. I believe who we are emerged as a response to the environment we faced in our past. Through understanding this, you can begin to reclaim parts of you that are important but might have been forgotten. My Gestalt approach includes the view that bodies hold a wealth of knowledge and when listened to can begin to melt old patterns which we may have carried since childhood. I am able to help with immediate issues – resourcing you for challenges you might be facing right now – or to explore deeper / older issues, which may be colouring your life. Whether you are in crisis, or wish to work through the impact of past experiences, I respect your sense of what you need, and provide structured, emotional support. Previous clients of mine have come for support with anxiety and depression; other issues I have experience with include loss, relationship difficulties, trauma. You may have a clear sense of what you are facing, or a broader wish to explore yourself or feel more balanced and grounded where you are in your life. I have experience working with either approach to therapy and will work from where you wish to start. I work with adults over 18. I am experienced in working remotely, by video call or telephone. I am supported by my own regular Supervision and abide by the UKCP ethical framework and code of practice.
