Pat Capel

Psychotherapist and Counsellor
I enjoy working with those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, stress and the effects of trauma. If you are having trouble sleeping, I can help you with that too. I also have had great success with those who are struggling with work-life balance or where they feel their workplace is toxic. My background in education has meant that many students come to me with exam anxiety or any other school or university issue that is proving problematic.
My background
I have worked in the secondary school classroom for over 30 years and recently decided to focus my attention on private tutoring and counselling. My educational background means that I enjoy working with adolescents and young people and their families. I am originally from South Africa and have lived in the UK for over 20 years. I originally qualified in South Africa and then returned to the books to train as a solution focused therapist in 2011. I decided to train in the Human Givens model of therapy which aims to be solution focused.
Being a solution focused therapist, my aim to make myself redundant as soon as possible. I aim to help you find methods to understand your current situation and then to help you find or develop coping skills so that you can manage on your own. I do not sign you up to a course of treatment. If and when you return for the next session will always be your choice.
