Angelene Gardner

Clinical Psychologist at Wimbledon Psychology
I’m Angelene, a Clinical Psychologist with 10 years of NHS experience in adult mental health and family settings. Many of the people I work with appear high-functioning but quietly struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, work stress, parenting pressures or relationship difficulties. Therapy can help you understand the roots of these patterns and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
My background
As a doctoral-trained Clinical Psychologist, I offer a thoughtful, personalised approach to help you make sense of your difficulties and create meaningful, lasting change. I have specialist experience in three main areas: Managing emotions & building self-esteem: I help with issues such as anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, self-criticism and perfectionism. I help clients live a life that brings them meaning, process difficult experiences, and direct compassion towards themselves. Clients might want practical tools to support them in the ‘here and now’ as well as a deeper exploration of how their life experiences impact them in the present and to work through underlying distress. Recovering from trauma & distress: I support clients who have experienced traumatic or overwhelming life events that affect them in the present. This may include difficult childhood experiences, abuse, assault, bereavement and medical trauma. I use EMDR (trauma therapy) to help clients process distressing experiences, reduce emotional overwhelm, and feel less “stuck” in patterns connected to the past. I also offer EMDR intensives to support more immediate progress. Strengthening relationships through couples therapy: I support couples to learn healthier ways of communicating, show empathy, and strengthen their bond. Whilst I work with a variety of issues, I have specialist experience in supporting couples impacted by trauma such as serious accidents, bereavement, illness or other distressing events which have impacted the relationship. I also work with attachment trauma, including, infidelity and betrayals. My approach helps couples build emotional safety, share perspectives, and address negative cycles.
Therapeutic approaches For individuals I draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and EMDR (trauma therapy), tailoring sessions to your needs, whether you’re struggling with low mood, anxiety, self-criticism, difficult emotions or the impact of trauma. Practical information I offer a appointments at 9 am to 3 pm on weekdays. I offer online sessions and in-person appointments in Wimbledon (SW19). Individual sessions are £120 and couples sessions are £150 for standard 50 minute sessions. I also take health insurance.
