Rio Dunsdon-Fry

Play Therapist
I am a play therapist working within schools and community settings across west London. I have experience working in the following areas: Bereavement, Fostering and Special Guardianship, Parental separation and Family conflict and children who have fled conflict or instability. I work with children who experience emotional and behavioural regulation difficulties, attachment difficulties, anxiety and low self-esteem. I offer a warm and welcoming environment for children to play freely and adapt the approach to meet the needs of children of all ages.
My background
I previously worked within the education sector running arts and wellbeing projects within schools and colleges. From this experience I noticed how play and creativity is a really powerful tools for children and young people to develop trusting relationships and express themselves. I therefore took the decision to retrain as a play therapist and have since been working with children aged 3-14 years old across schools and community settings. I worked as a Child and Family Specialist at the Anna Freud Centre and Brent Council, before moving into school based work and private practice.
I follow a child-centred and trauma-informed approach within my sessions. I use play and arts as a means of communication for children to express themselves and process their lived experiences.
